What will our participation options look like in Whatcom’s 5 year homeless housing plan? / Noisy Waters Northwest

Posted on February 5, 2025 by Dena
Screencapture of a screen recording of the hybrid December 12, 2024 Whatcom County Housing Advisory Committee meeting during a presentation on the process for the County’s 2025-2030 Homeless Housing Plan.

Whatcom County’s Housing Advisory Committee next meeting is next week on Thursday, February 13, 2025. What the HAC is doing right now is significant for two reasons, among others. Last month a number of local political organizations were engaging with candidates running for office in the November 2023 election who were seeking those groups’ endorsements. On June 10, I attended the meeting of the 42nd Legislative District Democrats to hear the statements of those candidates who were present.

On October 20, I sent an email to Mayor Fleetwood, Bellingham City Council, the Whatcom County Executive, Whatcom County Council, and Bellingham Police Chief Flo Simon, providing links to the completed segments of the review I had written, “Whatcom Barriers to Equity, a review for 2021 candidates.”
