July 18, 2019 Sandy Robson

In listening to part of the audio recording of the County Council Special Committee of the Whole (SCOTW) meeting held Tuesday, July 9, 2019, Council member Barbara Brenner made a motion to remove a proposed code amendment which would prohibit additional fossil fuel refineries at Cherry Point. Council member Satpal Sidhu seconded that motion, and then there was a discussion by the Council. The code amendment pertains to Whatcom County Code, and would be to address the County’s Comprehensive Plan policy specific to Cherry Point.

Some thoughts on the Whatcom County Council District At-Large position B primary election race / Facebook post, Sj Robson

Screenshot of a photo from a Whatcom Republicans event. A man with a microphone is standing on grass in front of a platform with bunting on it and a banner reading “Trump – Keep America Great 2020.” There are photos on the platform of 2019 Whatcom County Executive Candidate, Tony Larson, and 2019 Whatcom County Council Candidate Kathy Kershner.

July 21, 2019 Sandy Robson

There is one Democratic candidate listed on the primary ballot in this At-Large position race, Carol Frazey, and I believe she is definitely the best choice. There are also three conservative candidates listed on the ballot: Brett Bonner, Bill LaFreniere, and David Ramirez.

Folks may remember discussion last year of the Port of Bellingham allowing some of their public parks to be shut down to non-paying members of the public for private events due to requests from event organizers. February 6, 2019 Sandy Robson

First, and most importantly, the deadline for requesting mail-in ballots for the WCD election is February 8, 2019, by 4:00 PM. Here is a link to request a mail-in ballot. https://www.whatcomcd.org/board-elections

What follows is my rabbit hole report: This afternoon, February 6, I called the Whatcom County Auditor’s office to confirm exactly how my name is listed on my voter registration for Washington state. The reason I did that was because I had seen a friend’s Facebook post today reminding people to request a mail-in ballot from the Whatcom Conservation District (WCD) for its upcoming March 26 district supervisor board election.
