Apparently, Republican Senator Doug Ericksen traveled to Cambodia this month on what he described on a recent Washington State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) filing, as a “trade mission.”

Local business advocacy and non-profit organization, Whatcom Business Alliance (WBA), sent out a May 2, 2018 email blast to its members, thanking those who attended the “Leaders of Industry” event hosted by the WBA the week before, and promoting its “Step Up for Business Advocacy” program. The email was signed by WBA’s recently hired Public Policy Director, Brett Bonner, who has been involved in Republican politics in Whatcom County for many years.

This is a follow-up to my December 21, 2017, FB post about Senator Doug Ericksen’s potential new employment with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in its Region 10 office, in Seattle.

Today, I was perusing the Public Disclosure Commission website reports filed recently by the Whatcom County Republican Party PAC (“Whatcom Republicans”). You can send one too! : council@co.whatcom.wa.us.
Perhaps some history on Port of Bellingham Commissioner (District 2) candidate Ken Bell’s actions as an elected official in 2015, will remind voters why they need to vote FOR Barry Wenger for Bellingham Port Commissioner, District 2. Continue reading

A joint campaign flyer paid for by the campaigns for four self-described “nonpartisan” candidates running for office in Whatcom County in the November general election, just arrived in voters’ mailboxes. The top of one side of the flyer reads: “Tired of Partisan politics? So are we.” The flip side of the flyer reads, in part: “We Don’t Want To Be Elected By A Political Party, We Want To Be Elected By The People.”

It is infuriating that small city Mayors Mutchler and Korthuis are using mental health services and diversion programs to sell the jail sales tax to voters in this op-ed in the Bellingham Herald, when they were supporting the Jail Facility Finance and Use Agreement with no assurances of monies for these.
