I am posting a letter that I sent on March 11, 2017 to BP’s Associate Director of NW Government and Public Affairs Pam Brady, who is on the Board of Directors of the Whatcom Business Alliance.  The Whatcom Business Alliance (WBA) is increasingly promoting their campaign against elements of the Whatcom County Council Proposed Cherry Point Amendments to our County’s long-term planning document, the Comprehensive Plan.   Continue reading

They had two documents, only, on there for the entirety of 2016 until myself and a few handful of people started writing them on – I believe it was July 29th – and asked them: where are those documents?

Whatcom County Administration continues to breathe life into the Gateway Pacific Terminal project even after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers denied the Section 404/10 permit needed on May 9th, and after the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) denied the lease needed on June 6th. It might be time for folks to get a little worried about the situation with GPT [Gateway Pacific Terminal]. The administration appears to be willing to accommodate SSA in whatever way possible, and wants to do so without any public awareness until after action has already been taken. What the county is not willing to do is deny the application and close out the case. It refuses to answer questions or provide documents on this matter. Continue reading
