In regards to homeless issues, it is lucky that we will be replacing County Prosecuting Attorney David McEachran this election season because he seems to be spreading a perspective about statistics regarding crimes involving “transients” in our community that is biased towards assuming the criminal intent of people who are traveling through Whatcom County.  Continue reading

Those were the last words that Jewell James gave to those of us who attended the recent Bears Ears totem pole blessing at the Bellingham Unitarian Church. Those words concluded a wide-ranging discourse full of wisdom and warning. On Tuesday, November 4th, 2017, the Whatcom County Court’s respect for freedom of speech and association was called into question once again. Approximately forty supporters of the Indigenous led group the Red Line Salish Sea formerly the Bellingham #NoDAPL Coalition filled the courtroom to demand fair justice.

August 30, 2017 – After months of failed warrants attempted against the Red Line Salish Sea Facebook page (formerly known as the Bellingham #NoDAPL Coalition), the Whatcom Superior Court judge submitted to the prosecutor’s request, allowing the State to invade the Bellingham #nodapl Redline Salish Sea Facebook profile.
