At the staff presentation to the county council on the Critical Area Ordinance, staff provided their goals and proposed changes (why are they making changes now?) without explaining how the CAO worked or how the new proposals fit into the CAO requirements. They skipped any mention of the Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas, and only mentioned farm plans with regard to an suggestion for an annual report. I felt this left the council and public uninformed. From the Facebook event information page:
Womxn (conventionally known as ‘women’) are silenced, womxn are erased, womxn are ignored, womxn are abused, womxn are victimized. Moreover womxn of color are continuously subjected to silence, erasure, violence and invisibility. “Beyond that I want to go on record, most of all what I was writing about – I felt was really important – is that our county administration, Jack Louws and his administration, have refused to put correspondence and documents related to the GPT project on the GPT page of the county website. They had two documents, only, on there for the entirety of 2016 until myself and a few handful of people started writing them on – I believe it was July 29th – and asked them: where are those documents?

Last night, at approximately 11:50 PM a magnitude 3.2 earthquake occurred near Lake Whatcom and the Sudden Valley area. While there has been no reported damage from this earthquake, it serves as a good reminder to the community that Whatcom County is part of a seismically active area of the country. […]
