Here’s a little recap of the County Executive’s Report at the 10/9/18 Whatcom County Council Finance and Administrative Services Committee meeting. It’s good to know about this because it gives us clues to questions and possible approaches the County Administration and Council Members may be thinking about regarding the Whatcom County Jail.  Continue reading

In this video Jim Peterson of HomesNOW! Not Later gives an update on a recent meeting Jim went to with Bellingham Planning Director Rick Sepler, Bellingham Police Department Chief Doll, and (I believe) COB Finance Director Brian Henshaw. It’s great to listen to, if you have the time, because you get a feel for how frustrating it is to just be granted permission to move forward with work that really, we would think our government officials would be leaping to help facilitate.  Continue reading

Today, as we mark 15 days worth of Doug’s Got to Go posts,  we remember that back in October of 2014, Joel Connelly for seattlepi reported that Republican State Senator Doug Ericksen, “gained unwanted recognition last year when the Associated Press and public radio stations found he had accepted $2,029 worth of free meals, drinks and golf games on 62 occasions during the first four months of 2013.”  Continue reading

Today makes two full weeks of Doug’s Got to Go posts. Oh yes, I am seeing if the list of Republican State Senator Doug Ericksen’s offensive actions and threats to our planet will take us all the way to Election Day 2018 when we get to fire him. So here we are on day 14, reminding ourselves of an appearance by Senator Erickson on a May 2, 2017 broadcast of Dillon Honcoop’s Morning Show on KGMI. Continue reading

We are now at a baker’s dozen of Doug’s Got to Go posts. While we fight our way to firing Republican State Senator Doug Ericksen in the November 2018 election, here is this excellent reason for doing so.  Below is the opening of this November 2016 Bellingham Herald article. Luckily Senator Ericksen did not succeed in passing this bill that could have served to chill our first amendment rights.  Continue reading

Ericksen no on stopping conversion therapy

September 5, 2018  Dena Jensen

11 days and 11 easy reasons now that Doug’s Got to Go.

Today’s reason is that Republican State Senator Doug Ericksen (and our two current 42nd LD Representatives, also up for re-election) voted against a law banning conversion therapy by licensed health care providers on patients under age eighteen, that would spare minors of any sexual identity in our state from this type of abuse.  Continue reading

Day number 10 of the Doug’s Got to Go posts finds us remembering the April of 2017 when 42nd LD constituents were often wondering “Where’s Doug?”  I think when it has been, on multiple occasions, so hard to figure out where and when our Republican Senator Doug Ericksen is really working, it’s a sure sign to send him on his way!  Continue reading
