Supposed “non-partisan” event paid for by the Whatcom County Republican Party PAC / Facebook post, Sj Robson
November 7, 2017 Sandy Robson
Today, I was perusing the Public Disclosure Commission website reports filed recently by the Whatcom County Republican Party PAC (“Whatcom Republicans”). I noticed there were two Expenditure reports filed that showed the Whatcom Republicans paid $358.08 on October 9, 2017, and $214.08 on October 27, 2017, to Meridian High School.
Those two dates seemed to correlate with two events I remembered which were: the October 5, 2017 “County-wide Candidate Forum,” and the October 19, 2017 “Wake-Up Whatcom County Rally!” both held at Meridian High School. Continue reading

To try to stay on top of actions that will help reduce further injustice being perpetrated on incarcerated individuals at our downtown Bellingham jail I sent a letter today to Whatcom County Council and Deputy Executive Schroeder today about the consent agenda item on the Council’s Finance and Adminstrative Services Committee agenda tomorrow (11/8) about renovations on the downtown Bellingham jail. Legal Action Moves Forward Against Top Whatcom County Officials
Bellingham, WA- Community leader, Rosalinda Guillen, filed a lawsuit for over $230,000,000 on October 10, 2017 in Whatcom County Superior Court against Defendants, Sherriff Bill Elfo, County Prosecutor David McEachran, and County Executive Jack Louws, based on their unlawful actions in the 2015 election year. The lawsuit alleges that Louws, Elfo, and McEachran violated Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 42.17A by using county resources for their reelections and publishing a biased and deceptive mailer to registered voters. Don’t let Port candidate Ken Bell off the hook for his involvement in saddling our County with district-only voting / Facebook post, Sj Robson
Perhaps some history on Port of Bellingham Commissioner (District 2) candidate Ken Bell’s actions as an elected official in 2015, will remind voters why they need to vote FOR Barry Wenger for Bellingham Port Commissioner, District 2. Continue reading
Stealth Republicans running for County Council and Port of Bellingham / Facebook post, Sj Robson
October 29, 2017 Sandy Robson
A joint campaign flyer paid for by the campaigns for four self-described “nonpartisan” candidates running for office in Whatcom County in the November general election, just arrived in voters’ mailboxes. The top of one side of the flyer reads: “Tired of Partisan politics? So are we.” The flip side of the flyer reads, in part: “We Don’t Want To Be Elected By A Political Party, We Want To Be Elected By The People.”
Mutchler and Korthuis make deceptive pitch for the jail sales tax / Facebook Post, Noisy Waters Northwest

#RejectTheJailTax #GetFiredUpForJustice
It is infuriating that small city Mayors Mutchler and Korthuis are using mental health services and diversion programs to sell the jail sales tax to voters in this op-ed in the Bellingham Herald, when they were supporting the Jail Facility Finance and Use Agreement with no assurances of monies for these. Bellingham Port Commission, District 1 candidate Dan Robbins’ support from fossil fuel interests in past and present elections / Facebook post, Sj Robson
Today a sponsored Facebook ad came into my feed from candidate for Port of Bellingham Commission, Dan Robbins, via his “Vote Dan Robbins” campaign page.
Robbins is running against Port candidate Michael Shepard, whose background garnered him an endorsement by the Washington Conservation Voters, which supports environmentally responsible candidates who their organization expects to be environmental champions that will protect and restore Washington’s environment. Look what the “Whatcom Jail” pro-Jail Sales and Use Tax (Proposition 2017-6) Facebook page did to a photo taken during an anti-Jail Sales and Use Tax (Proposition 2015-1) rally, held back in October 2015, in front of the Whatcom County Courthouse. Continue reading
How COB literature is selling the Jail Sales and Use Tax / Facebook post, Sj Robson

October 17, 2017 Sandy Robson
Today, I called the Director of Communications for the City of Bellingham (COB), Vanessa Blackburn, to inquire about the item regarding the Public Safety and Jail Facilities Sales and Use Tax proposition (2017-6) that was in the COB’s Fall 2017 & Winter 2018, “INSIDE Bellingham” newsletter.
