The recent deportation notice filed against Washington-based immigrant rights activist and mother, Maru Mora-Villalpando, is a clear sign that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is turning into Trump’s secret police and silencing immigrants who fight back.

Republican recommendations 2016

3 hrs August 23, 2017  Sandy Robson

If you pay attention to local politics you probably know that in the 2016 general election, the Whatcom County Republican Party officially recommended then-candidate for President Donald J. Trump and his VP running mate, Mike Pence, on its 2016 “Republican Recommendations” list (shown in attached screenshot photo). And, even though many people have expressed disgust and anger with some, or most, of the Trump administrations’ actions thus far in his presidency, the Whatcom County Republican Party (known as the “Whatcom Republicans”) still displays, on its Whatcomgop.com website’s homepage, a graphic featuring the 2016 Trump/Pence logo with the “Make America Great Again” slogan alongside it.  Continue reading

NWNW Administrator’s note: The following email was sent by Dr. Bill Warner to Lynden Tribune Editor Calvin Bratt in response to Mr. Bratt’s August 15, 2016 email allegations, (The text of Mr. Bratt’s email is included in Bill Warner’s refutation email).  Mr. Bratt’s charges included this one: “What is truly shameful is this continual attack against me, Mike Lewis and the reputation of the Lynden Tribune. I am astonished that you keep this up.”  In addition to the emails included in this post, you can read Noisy Waters Northwest’s August 15, 2016 post of Dr. Warner’s email thread presenting  his continued research on what he has found to be Lynden Tribune’s Tea Party oriented editorial proclivities.

Remember the May, 7, 2016 Donald Trump rally at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden, that so far, has cost Whatcom County taxpayers approximately $130,000 in terms of law enforcement and agency response expenses?

Dear Neighbors,

As a long-time subscriber to the Lynden Tribune and a concerned citizen, I continue to research the Tribune’s editorial/forum pages and “news” pages and the clear conclusion is that: Lynden “Tea Party” Tribune continues its long-standing policy of exclusively promoting Republican and Tea Party views.  Calvin Bratt and Michael Lewis have no interest in publishing any Community Forum columns or letters to the editor that favor Democrats or progressives. An astute political observer just brought this to my attention.

Clinton’s selection of unknown Kaine as running mate signals that Democrats are willing to throw the election to Republicans and Trump will likely be our next president – absent a resurgence of Sanders in a contested convention.  Why would they do that?
