Day 7 of Doug’s Got to Go has arrived and we shall celebrate it with being thankful that Republican Senator Doug Ericksen and the two other current 42nd LD representatives were unsuccessful in 2016 in overturning the enforcement by the Washington State Human Rights Commission of the Washington Law Against Discrimination making sure transgender people are protected in using the bathroom that fits their sexual identity.  Continue reading →

In an Oct/Nov 2013 article in the Whatcom Watch, Sandy was talking about a forum for the Gateway Pacific coal terminal held back in 2011 that was hosted by the ultra-conservative Northwest Business Club, which an infamously anti-tribal-treaty-rights member of our community, Ron Reimer, was emceeing. Citizens Beware…

Those were the last words that Jewell James gave to those of us who attended the recent Bears Ears totem pole blessing at the Bellingham Unitarian Church. Those words concluded a wide-ranging discourse full of wisdom and warning. Needless to say, the Natives who have long suffered at the hands of Washington State’s repressive state and local law enforcement agencies know of what they speak.
