Yesterday Senate Bill 5438 was successfully moved out of the WA state legislature’s Labor & Workplace Standards committee with a do-pass recommendation! SB 5438 would provide measures to offer more adequate protections for the rising number of H-2A farm workers being recruited by Washington state farms.

I just listened to a recent Community Voz radio show on SB 5438 – which recently passed the state senate – a bill that would provide a source of funding and resources to provide better oversight to help prevent abuses of the H-2A visa agricultural program. Ericksen no on stopping conversion therapy

11 days and 11 easy reasons now that Doug’s Got to Go. 

Today’s reason is that Republican State Senator Doug Ericksen (and our two current 42nd LD Representatives, also up for re-election) voted against a law banning conversion therapy by licensed health care providers on patients under age eighteen, that would spare minors of any sexual identity in our state from this type of abuse.  Continue reading

Day 7 of Doug’s Got to Go has arrived and we shall celebrate it with being thankful that Republican Senator Doug Ericksen and the two other current 42nd LD representatives were unsuccessful in 2016 in overturning the enforcement by the Washington State Human Rights Commission of the Washington Law Against Discrimination making sure transgender people are protected in using the bathroom that fits their sexual identity.  Continue reading
