The MLK Unity Ball Organizing Committee presents the

First Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Ball

Saturday, January 19, 2019, 7:00pm. – Midnight

The Majestic Ballroom, 1027 North Forest Street, Bellingham

Taken from a message that Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave at Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 3, 1968, the theme of the First Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Ball is Celebrate Yourself Like Never Before.  During his final public appearance before his tragic assassination the next day, Dr. King encouraged folks to “Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, ‘Here is an opportunity to celebrate like never before–my own power and my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary.’”

We are coming together to celebrate in honor of Dr. King and organizations and individuals in the Bellingham community who keep his dream alive…the dream that this country could attain only by acknowledging our shared history and working together to achieve ideals of equity, freedom, and self-determination.

A portion of the net proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the International Inclusive Empowerment Society, a local non-profit that empowers vulnerable immigrants and refugees with multiple barriers to successfully integrate into an inclusive American society through education, advocacy, and community-building.

Ages 18 and over, semi-formal attire encouraged.  Alcohol-free, hors d’ouvres will be served.

Doors open at 7 pm.

Tickets are $25.00 each, $45.00 a pair.

Tickets may be purchased locally by emailing mlkunityball@gmail.com or online at https://mlkunityball2019.brownpapertickets.com/ (service fee charge charged).

Event sponsors include: Whatcom Human Rights Task Force, Black Lives Matter Bellingham, Community Food Co-op, Bruna Press + Archive, Bellingham Circus Guild, Alicia’s Bridal, Tony’s Coffee.
